I’m Chiara, a London-based student working with the Woodland Trust to raise awareness for urban trees!

My involvement in the Igniting Innovation Challenge 2023 meant I won grant money and support to bring my awareness-raising project to fruition. I hope this online platform is the little acorn from which a mighty oak of urban tree recognition and appreciation will grow (hence the name).

As an artist, I immediately thought of online exhibitions as a tool to increase public engagement with urban trees, nature and the climate crisis in general. I expanded this creative outlet so it is now a space where anyone and everyone can share their work, whether that be a song, poem, short story, academic essay, painting, sculpture, performance, film or more.

I hope my portable online gallery serves as a vessel to promote the celebration of trees (particularly in urban areas) and a general engagement in the natural world around us.
